Tuff Shed
Tuff Shed
I am needing the plans or mesurments for a 8' x 16' Gambrel Roof shed. If any body has them It would be great. I have look on the net and at public library. But no hope. All I need is the angle of the roof trusses.
There is alot of vairable for figuring out the angles, there is no set value. But I just did a quick sketch on CAD to come up with a 71 degree for the first angle and 19 or 26 degree for the second, both coming off zero degree and that being east on the compass. To make the lengths look even and with a 6" overhang, you will be using the 26 degree angle. This is all assuming the peak of your shed to be at 4' above the highest horizontal point on your frame. This will give each leg an approximat 3'-2 to 3'-5" length. The angle change will be 3' straight up (90 degrees or north) from the lowest point of the roof edge.
If no overhanging eave, then use the 19 degree angle for the upper part of the truss, still changing angles at 3' above the highest horizontal point on your frame.
I have no clue how to post a drawing to show this, so I hope my explanation helped. If you are going higher or lower than the 4' let me know and I can help you out. Also let me know if there is going to be an overhang. But for an 8' wide structure, I think what I chose would be the best for looks.

I've got a book called the "The Ultimate Guide to Barns Sheds and Outbuildings " ( hey, why be modest
) by John Wagner and Clayton DeKorne.
I really haven't used it, but I just looked up roofs. It has a few pages of guidelines for designing gambrel roofs.
The same author(s) had another book that was more shed oriented. That one was in our local library. I found this one on amazon. You might try searching using the author's names.
