Express Bed/Box Stake Pockets Needed

I know this is a long shot but I have to ask. Does anybody have a ratty old Express Box that might have decent front stake pockets?

I found a really nice straight bed that actually has just surface rust and even has most of the wood still intact. EXCEPT.....the front stake pockets. Bottoms are gone. Shed roof dripped right on them for 40 years. Drain holes plugged up and you know the rest.

I've looked at plenty of rusted out beds that had good stake pockets. Anybody have one they would be willing to take the stake pockets off of?

I could get away with just the lower half. I don't think I could fab one.

They reproduce them for the F1. Can't you just get one of those and just use the lower half?

I have a '48-'52 express bed that is pretty rough. I will look tomorrow to see if the pockets are any good.

Doug, I don't think any part of the F-1 front or rear pockets can be made to work on the express beds. I may be wrong, but don't think so.

My understanding is that the entire F-2/3 beds shared nothing in common with the half-tons, except perhaps the chains.

I saw a thread somewhere that a guy tried to make an F1 stake pocket work and he couldn't do it. Too different.

That would be great if you had one Mark. Thank you for checking.

I got lucky with the chains. Still got the originals.

I really like having the F3 because it's different. You just don't see them compared to the F1's. Finding parts for them SUCKS!!!

Seems like everybody that wanted or needed F2's and F3's lived in the rust belt. I can find TONS of F1 parts here in AZ. Forget about the bigger trucks.

There was a thread a while back where a member was looking for suggestions of parts to repop in fiberglass. Perfect candidate. Stu

Here is the one thread and i see that you already suggested stake pockets.

I agree. Fiberglass could be glued right to the bed sides.

Here is the other thread.

Ive got a couple parts f2 f3s and most of the stakepockets are hammered. I planned on doing the same thing swiping a good one here or there to make two good complete express beds.
I need to look closer at the rear stakepockets but i think those could be used on the front as well?

I could probably get one clean one to send in as a template if there was demand i bet he would make them.

48-52 F2/3 beds use a curvy stake pocket like the 48-50 F1's, but are dimentionally larger all the way around. The 53 and later long beds have the square pockets like the 51-up half tons, so there's no interchange possibility.

Here are a couple of photos of the front stake pockets. You will notice that the passenger side has a dime sized hole showing thru at the bottom corner. I think it would be an easy fix as the pocket seems solid otherwise.

This is the passenger side, notice the hole.

This is the drivers side.
If you are interested I will cut the corners off of the bed and you can remove the pocket from it. Does $20.00 each plus shipping sound fair?

Those look like an easy fix. Mine front ones are completely gone at the bottom.

$20 each plus shipping is very fair. THANK YOU! I will PM you some info.
