Turbo It?
hey, i just got a 83 f-350 with a 6.9 im just wondering how much do these motors gain average if you turbo them. i pull quite a bit between hay in the summer along with tractors and snowmobiles in the winter. also what turbos do you guys recommend for these motors. dont know what im gona do just findin out info

ATS and banks are the most popular both are about even in horsepower gains and that is very noticable especially at higher elevations where the air is thinner.
Now these are not cheap and you mentioned a rough body you have to decide if you are going to keep this truck long enough to make your investment worth it.
It will pull the same loads and do everything you need just not as fast.
there are also some free and cheaper mods that will give you some noticable gains in power (soupbowl cold air intake freeflowing exhaust) not in the turbo class but helps and a lot less investment.
