I'd like to see the springs upgrade too - I recently beefed up mine too, I went from 5-pack to 6-pack mains (with '97 F250 leafs) and from single to double-leaf overloads (with Superduty F450 leafs) - truck is riding so high now I had to install shocks for a 4x4 F350, but I know that I can have her loaded up to the top of the stake sides and she will still probably not sag
Dave, all the weight I haul is usually on the hitch, so I don't really need that fat overloads. Sounds like a tow-truck setup tho, real nice when you gotta load her up good.
Lol, you wanna jump on the new springs bandwagon? I primarily wanted to do mine to get rid of the sagging to one side dragging *** when hooked up to the 30-footer, but since my buddy had the F450 leafts I figured might as well go all the way.
You had success posting pictures , can you please describe how you did it
My spring are similar to what you did in total I did leaf. In bottom I Put 2 big spring , and 9 main, with only one ovelaod.
I like the 2 leaf over load
I'm curious about the upper two springs; the ones above the little flat block. What do they accomplish? They don't appear to be tied in to anything on their ends, so, when loaded down, won't they just be sitting there like they are in the pic while the main pack starts to flatten out?
That is the overloads you can't see the stops for them in the picture but when loaded it will be riding on them also. (more load capability without a harsher ride)
I have a bunch of main leaves, like 10 or something, rides like an absolute tank! But 3 tons of concrete only sagged it about an inch or so...that was the smoothest ride in that truck ever! lol
As starmilt said, there's a bump-stop on both ends of the overload springs and they bottom out on the stops giving you 2 more springs, but when unloaded, they help keep ride quality higher (2 less springs to stiffen the ride).
