Fuel leak

I replaced my HP fuel pump last weekend including replacement of the fuel hoses. The dealer did not have banjo bolt washers, as usual said had plenty in stock and when wife got there ... none.

I tightened hose clamps with a screw driver and the banjo bolt with a box end. The banjo bolt is very tight but have a quite noticable leak seen under the truck, can't see a drip in the vally although I haven't been able to get up real close and inspect the valley well since the pump change.

Any ideas .. banjo bolt gaskets ... fuel lin hoses, ??

Could be any number of things. I took an inspection mirror and flashlight to find out where my leaks were. One was fuel pump, also water drain valve O rings and one of the hoses from the fuel filter housing to the water pump. All of these will result in fuel down the back of the engine as it runs back the valley pan.

On the drivers side of the furl canaster there is a fuel hose that runs down from the top and connects to a steel line, short hose maybe 1.5 inches. I did not replace this hose and it was a black hose that was quite hard. Does this hose need to be replaced with a new blue hose? Not sure if this is where the leak is, I'm out of town and don't have anywhere to do a good inspection.

Any time you get a hose that becomes hard and brittle it is a good idea to replace. It may not have been leaking before the repair but moving it around during the repair can cause leaks.
