I finally had time to get a good look at my fuel leak. It is a really slow leak that seems non-existent until the engine warms a little. It is coming from the fuel pump and seeps into the valley right under the banjo bolt. I can't see the weep hole with the mirror I have but I suspect it is right there where the banjo assembly joins the main body of the pump. The fuel is barely coming out but after a little bit I have a little puddle in that valley and once it fills it spreads. Definitely not the banjo bolt - it is tight and I can see with the mirror there is no leak there.
So, it might just be an o-ring in the pump but if I'm going in that deep I might as well replace the pump. Is there any real difference in the quality? Looks like about $100 at Oreilly, $120 at RiffRaff and then there are some really expensive ones in the $240 range. Hard to imagine they are worth it, but thoughts appreciated.
I suppose I might as well re-seal the fuel filter basket at the same time and replace all hoses.
From my understanding all of the pumps are made by the same company. They are pretty much all good to go, just depends what you feel like paying. I'd go ahead and re-seal everything I could while I was in there. I'd reckon that the o-ring on your pump shaft is deteriorated and letting fuel leak.
That's crazy. Well, then I'll find the one closest to home and get it there.
Anyone know what the square Oring on the Y-pipe that feeds the intakes is called? It's got that weird clamp on it at the turbo. Mine's a little squished

Yeah, its a circle but the edges are squared like. When you pull that y pipe to see in by the fuel pump, it is the oring that seals up by the turbo - if I have my parts named right
I've got to admit that the mechanical just seems more reliable to me. I remember electric fuel pumps as potential nightmare's - probably unfounded anymore, but I'm still skeptical. Is three a big advantage? Better for future mod's? Really hard to do?
Yes if you are thinking about injectors in the future you might want to think about getting it. There are plenty of guys on here that have done it that would be able to help you out. It cleans up the valley and gets rid of that leaky fuel bowl. There are some good pumps out there but some keep an extra just in case. Plus if it does go out it is easyer to change.

Looks like a big job to make the change though. I'll read up on it but probably stick with mechanical for now. I just need it to run now. And for $90 I can do that while I plan all the other mods more carefully. Thanks for the suggestion.
One of the main reasons for efuel would be to get rid of all the possible leak point.
I was running the 180/80 stageII's that Todd has on a stock fuel pump just fine.
I'd be inclined to stick with a stock pump then even though it may leak occassionally. Mine has a lot of miles on it and I am not aware of it ever being changed - but who knows. I figure HPOP then injectors will account for a heck of a lot of my cash, so the $700-$1000 for efuel doesn't seem as necessary.
I don't know why I am so leary of epumps. I've had lots of cars with them. I sold auto parts back in the 80's when they were becoming extremely prevalent and I remember how expensive they were compared to a 350 chevy manual pump. It must have stuck in the back of my mind like when you throw up on peach schnapps and can't never drink it again!
