Well I got the CPS recall letter in the mail today. I guess I should try to get the mech to just give it to me for a spare, huh? I'm not letting them touch it that's for sure.
I just got my second letter "advising" me that my truck had not been in to have the cps changed out for the replacement.
How many of you guys have been able to walk in there and them give you one in hand and walk out? I wouldnt mind having a spare just in case. But there is no way the stealership is going to touch my truck with that thing.
Makes a good spare if they will just give you one like my dealer did. I now have a spare black and a spare gray one.
When I called around a year or so ago about the recall, both dealers I talked to then said they must go under the hood and not hand one over. I simply said "no thank you." I have a spare black in the glove box and hope I don't have to use it.
Don't let them touch it Adam unless you take out the DP, they like reflashing the comp afterwards following the CPS install, I think they did it to mine but I had the SC programmer. My alarm and remote start wasn't acting right after that, so it seems.

Not my dealer. They put my CPS in and I said, "There is a tuner in there. If you reflash the PCM you will be responsible for the cost of the tuner." They said there was no reason to reflash it for the CPS. They said the only reason some reflash it is to get the most current software on the hartdrive (Oversimplification) It is basically like running Windows Update.
