You don't have to pull the allen headed stud out, just rotate the front of the vent towards the outside of the door, and jiggle it a little bit while you lift it out. There is a slot stamped out of the door to clear all this.
yeah i pulled them both out of the door with it still on but the washer scrapped the door and it was just too tight for my liking. I removed the studs for reinstall and it was so much easier. If the washer on that stud was a little smaller i think it would work out fine.
