I have a 1963 unibody with paint code "K" which is apparently the Driftwood Gray. What would the paint code be if it was originally 2 toned? I am wanting to keep the truck original, but would like to paint the top white or red, don't know if this is original or not.
Hi,
I can't verify that the "K" color code represents Driftwood Gray, but if your truck were painted two-tone, the code would be K,M. The "M" represents "Corinthian White".
The Two-tone effect was achieved by combining any solid color with "Corinthian White".
The red paint color available for 1963 would have been "Rangoon Red" (color code = "J").
From Paul G. McLauglins book........
"Styletone Two-toning: Two-tone paint was available only on integral cab and body models of this year.
Corinthian White was applied to hood, cowl, upper door and window frame, and above the body crease line all the way to the tailights, including the upper vertical posts around the tailights. All other exterior surfaces were painted in primary body color including both sides of the tailgate, inside of the cargo box, the roof stamping and the vertical roof posts.
