I bought mine through them. Airtex is the OEM supplier, comes with everything you need (parts-wise; tools are your problem!! LOL) and they are quality. Lisa (Smokin') used one also I think, but others on this board will recommend not only that brand, but that sellor as well.

Is the beginning leak a typical precursor to the pump failing? And if so, about how much time is there usually?

Also, am I correct in thinking that the pump is under more stress when the rest of the engine is running hard, ie towing? If I have a leak, is it more likely to fail while towing or same as daily driving?

How much time is hard to say. I had a leak that lasted for 3000 miles but I was at home mainly so I could get it fixed easily. OTOH, I had another vehicle that went to hell in 100 miles from a leak to seizing up

I recieved 2 replies with instructions on water pump replacement, one was a document and other was a youtube link, They are not posted now, why would they have been removed, the youtube instructions were what i was going to use.
I go to this morning to write descriptions down to start removeal of pump and the replies are not here???
Did the administrator remove them for some reason?
Did the member remove them (2 diff replies)?
Please explain.

Mine never leaked until it went. I had heard a squeak at times then about 1 1/2 miles from home it really made a racket and antifreeze flooding out. O'Rielly also has new airtex. It's a good idea to remove the radiator or a least place something to protect it. I nearly punched a hole in mine. Good luck.

Don't Forget To...

Get some gasket material for the union. The gasket/o-ring supplied won't be enough to seal the joint. The perfectly smooth billet housing does not mate well with the cast iron of the pump/block. Use some of the Permatex gasket material around the mating surface and let it skin up for about 1/2 hour, then put the thermostat in (w/the rubber gasket) and bolt the flange (billet housing) together. Wait as long as you can before putting the upper hose on the billet housing to give the Permatex time to cure. Then attach the hoses and fill the system.

If you don't do this now, you will be doing this later. Don't ask me how I know...
