I have a 93 ford f150, the truck has been sitting for 3 years it needed a motor so I put one in it, the transmission was shifting fine when the guy sat the vehicle up. i changed fluid and filter it shifted fine for about 3-4 days then it stopped shifting in 3rd gear I can put it in d2 or d1 and put it back in D. It will shift with no problems. So is my trans on its way out? In need of some help please.
if you have over 100 thousand miles its most likely that you will need to get her rebuilt soon....was it shifting hard at all???
thats a sign of the tranny going ...
It's a E40D transmission, do you think it could be the torque converter locking up, i saw somewhere about that and also the throttle position sensor. The check engine light is on, im going to try and pull codes from it today.
Is everything else working OK? Does the engine miss or stumble? Does your speedometer work OK? When you changed the fluid did you drain the torque and did you use a Ford replacement filter?
Pulling the codes is the right thing to do, You can get a lot of useful info that way.
Well I scan for codes got code 122, 152 so 122 was for the TPS. Since i had replaced the motor in the truck i just swaped the TPS off the old motor. And it shifts fine now, drove for about 3hrs no problem. Thanks for all the help.
I know when I lost the AOD in my truck I lost overdrive on the first day, then I lost drive on the second day, then on the third day I slammed it into park doing about 20 mph and that fixed it. I always hated an auto anyway. Sorry, still bitter, I like to shift by myself.
