Warm start

Well I have had my truck for a few weeks and I have begun to notice that it takes way too long to start. My 96 psd would always start after two or three rotations and sometimes on the first hit. My new one seems to take five or six even after it is warm like at a pitstop.

Any remedies?

Weak batteries are usually the cause for extended starting times. A weak starter can do it as well. Make sure you have enough good clean oil and clean air filters.

Batteries were tested. Oil is nearly new. Air filter could be a culprit but anything else that might do it?

Fuel supply, electrical connections, bad fuel, ect. But all of those should be as much a cold start issue as well.

Fuel is good and it does the same thing on cold starts, but I guess I expected it more on cold starts since it is cold. No engine light.

Does it start faster when it's cold than it does when it's warm? If so, you may have a sticking IPR. If the motor is only spinning 5 or 6 revolutions, that may just be normal though. We've got to build HPO pressure to fire the injectors.

I hear ya about the oil preasure but my 96 psd didnt need this long. Both cold and warm starts seem to take about as long.

Lets say that this is possibly normal. What can I do to speed it up?

Any ideas on how to speed up my starting problem.

I dont believe my problem is normal but I am willing to venture on the idea that it is in my head with that being said. Anyone have an idea on how to help the motor start sooner.

Electric oil pump?
More fuel?
