While fixing the headlight switch issue I took out the floor covering and found the floor in the driver side is rusting out, any ideas about replace repair?
If I were you, I'd add some mud flaps to the front wheel wells too. My floors on my 150 are severely rotted and when driving down the road on slushy days, the slush splashes off the tires and into the cab. Probably the reason they rot out so bad there.
I had a ramcharger with a rusty floor, softball sized hole right under the gas pedal. I used an industrial baking sheet, cut off the edges, bent it to shape and welded it to the floor. It was just a mud toy though.
I ran into similar cancer on my 84 F150 when I was tearing it down for the major rebuild. I bought the replacement floor pans, rocker panels, door posts, and cab corners... all came from Bronco Graveyard. Unfortunately these panels don't cover all of the problem areas on these trucks I made the rest of my repair panels from 16 guage sheet metal. It turned out really nice. From what I have seen, at least up here in the snowbelt, alot this can be prevented by knocking the snow and slush off your boots/shoes before getting into the truck in the winter time. The snow melts and seeps under the carpet and trim and settles in that groove on the edge of the floor. Not only that the padding underneath the carpet soaks up the water and holds right on the metal floor rotting it out over time
You mean the snow belt I deal with. I bought my truck from a true redneck that lived right in the center it it all. I'm sure he never got the snow off his boots until spring!! I'll take pics of my floors one of these days.
I noticed some surface rust on my floor last time I had the carpet out. I wire brushed it, sprayed on some rust converter and then put a few layers of that spray on bed liner as well.
I also had the typical Ford floor rot. As noted above prestamped "replacement panels" are avalable but quality is questionable. I also used plain 16 ga sheet metal, a big hammer, and a welder with very good result. I did see that Wingnut doesent have a welder but pop rivets or even sheet metal screws would work. One thing I did not see the other posters note is that unless you are looking for a perfect rebuild, just about any type of repair will be covered with the floor matt and look/work as good as new!
