Basic differences ???
OK, now that I have explained the above I have two questions. The first one is what is the basic differences that allowed them to do away with the front servo that disengages the front differential. This has no bearing on my project, it's just a matter of curiousity. Second, I need to determine the gear ratio of the diffs but I have not found the door post sticker on the '99. I am assuming that it was on the post as opposed to the door. Since the doors are gone I may be out of luck if it was on the door. I suppose the sticker could have come off or been removed but I wouldn't know why. I would also be interested to know if there ant tags to look for with the codes on them. Does anyone have a list of the codes and their respective ratios? Thanks in advance for any helpfull info.

As for the elimination of the servo on the front diff.... in 95, you still had a 2wd drive option on the 4x4 selector switch. In 99, that wasn't an option... you have 4x4 auto, 4x4 hi and 4x4 low. So the front diff is always engaged. When no slip is detected, I think the bias is like 95% rear/5% front. Someone else can verify... but I think I'm right.

Oooo K, that explains it. They tore all that stuff out of the dash in the '99 before I got it, therefore no switch, so there is no way I would have figured ity out.
Thanks...
OK, here you go... 1FMZU34E9XUC31495 Any other interesting stuff you can tell me about this thing would be appreciated. I would like anything that pertains to towing capacity , suspension or limited slip diff. I doubt it is but you never know. BTW, our '95 has an axel code of 45. awhat can you tell me about that? Thanks in advamce for your trouble.

You're in luck on the '99. It has the 3.73 Limited slip rear axle. That'll be nice with the 351-W as long as you use an OD transmission.

Thanks Steve,
It looks like you got it all. You did a great job. Unfortunately the tranny on the 351 is a 4speed of '83 vintage, so I won't be enjoying overdrive. However, it's not really a big deal because I don't plan on using this thing on long road trips. It will be more or less a toy for local use. I was surprised to learn it was limited slip. It ought to prove to be a good little snow machine.

I had a cherry 53 F250 factory flat bed. Even had the original side boards ...... sure wish I had it back! Guess it was the early eighty's when I sold her.

This is the only photo I can find of her. I had the bumper off straightening it and the sideboards off. I left them off most of the time.

Yeah, it turns out that the wheel base and tracking width work well for this. There is a guy over on the '48 to '50 forum that used a 2WD '91. He kept the firewall and floor pan which he grafted into the F-100 cab thus eliminating the need to purchaes expensive and sub standard foreign after market replacement sheet metal. I have a '91 4WD I was originally going to use but we have become so reliant upon it as yard mule here that I didn't want to canabalize it. I came by this partial '99 for $250 which is about what they are getting for the rear ends. I will also be using the firewall and floor pan. It also makes it possible to use the dash, steering column, heater and A/C. The Explorer dash is a perfect fit for the old '53 cab.
I'm probably upsetting the purists who are bent on restoration but the trucks I get are just not suitable for restoring. You can see them on my website which you can get to by clicking the link in my signature below.

Finally some recognition... I been waitin' all my life for that. Not only am I "Different", but I try very hard to have no "Normal" friends. My drum jst doesn't beat to the same cadence as the rest of the tribe. What can I say???
About the Reality TV show... We have actually considered something like that in the way of a bit streaming presentation on the internet. Probably won't happen but it has been considered. I do have some back-up on that account in that I am tight with a local ISP owner who I do favors for in turn for space on the servers. Nothing will happen before Summer though. Actually, you won't see anything on my sites before that time either. The initial tear down of the Donors is scheduled for mid April a.d subsequent build start ups a month or so later.
