Well i have been fighting a vibration issue around 75 and slightly around 45, , just recently installed brand new driveshaft from ford with new everything, new tires, all fluid changed, the vibration is alot more noticeable with no fuel and bed empty, when I filled up this morning the vibration changed to not as agressive but still present any help would be great , going to disney with family tommorrow and dont want to bounce 800 miles, thanks
I fought a vibration issue for over a year and turned out to be the tires. I had them balanced, road force balanced etc. and never got rid of the vibration. I ended up getting a new set of tires because the old ones had gotten worn and the vibration went away. The tire guys said a belt must have let go inside one of the tires?? Dunno but it fixed the problem.
it has been going on for some time now with 2 differnt set of tires, so I replaced the driveshaft just installed the other day and took on highway this morning to find i spent alot of money for nothing,
I have heard that the pinion nut may be loose but dont know the torque and have noticed when i changed the rear end fluid that the pinion seal is leak slightly but has never been low
Six speed or automatic?
I had a driveline vibration that was caused by a bad OD bearing in ZF-6.
I chased it the same way you are doing right now. New u-joints, carrier bearing, etc.
Installing a rebuilt tranny eliminated the vibration.
sorry it is a auto not sure about diff, 04/01 production when i do add diff fluid i have not put any addidtive for split not sure if i had a slip diff since it is 2 wd
Mine started doing the "death wobble" and it turned out to be a sticking caliper pin that was causing the drivers side brake to drag. I did a brake job and fixed the caliper pin problem and it went away. So, it can be a number of things.
Well to all with a vibration . Mine is finally fixed after 2 sets of tires a couple of wheels , new u joints then a drive shaft , all fluids changed , rebalanced with a road force balancer, the carrier bearing had to be shimmed about 1/2 inch downward. there was a tsb about it some time ago with ford but not many techs know about it . Thank god that I did not have to replace the truck
