I've got a twin-post Eagle lift which is well built, but it's not for storage. It would be a big plus to go to a large car show/swap meet where there might be several dealers and see the lifts for yourself. I always thought the "Backyard Buddy" was nice until I saw some other, beefier models. Seeing them live is a real eye-opener.
thanks everyone these are good leads! do any of you have any of these or experience with them? the idea to go to the car show is a good one will look for one.
well, the first 3 of those are made in china, and i would not use them.
the last one, i am not sure on but i believe that is china made also.
compared to a comparable unit made in the USA by Rotary Lifts, which cost closer to $4000.
i am a firm believer in you get what you pay for, and i would not trust my cars or trucks on one of the cheaper models.
Ive been looking at the "bendpak" lift... even though i have been looking at the 2 post type they have the four post, i beleive they also have the 4 post type that are on some kind of caster and are movable around your shop.. check out Jay lenos big dog garage they have a little blip on the bend pak lifts, of course thats what jay uses, and i think they are made in the USA
Ive been checking out craigs list for a lift... it seems to me everyone ive seen has been just as expensive or even more expensive than buying a new one. Ive found 3 since i started looking and every one of them has been more than what i can get the bendpak lift brand new. How do you deal with shipping when you buy on ebay... getting a working lift for $500.00 is great, but my luck would be another $500 to ship it and then all the parts and pieces wouldnt be there when it got to me.
wish there were more of those $500.00 lifts around.
I forgot to mention that if you grab a Hemmings or Cars&Parts magazine, they are loaded with storage lift manufacturer advertisements in there every month.
I bought mine from Greg Smith Equipment in Indy . About $1500 dollars . It is rated at 10000 lbs. Its lifted any thing I have asked of it and never skipped a beat.
Best investment I have made in along time . It came with all the truck adapters and mounting hardware. I picked it up my self in Indy as I happen to live there . Installed it myself in about two and half hours very easy. Don't know how I got along with out now, you get spoiled real fast.
