Had a good last few weeks on the '57. Got the Mustang gas tank installed under the box. Raised the rear shock mounts for more travel after removing every-other spring in the rear. Got the tubular front lower control arms on (after having them lying under the bench for a year!). Put in both steps, step risers, rockers and cab corners. Also put in the front cab mounts and patched all the rust on the core support and left front fender (pictures ready to post). Built a new smooth tailgate with hidden latches and 2007 F150 support straps (pictures forthcoming). Got everything back together and took it for a little drive tonight. The C4 is fresh and works great. Cruises right down the road and drives very nice. Mild cammed 289 with forged flattops, little 600 Holley on a Weiand intake. Used '72 F100 302 headers and they fit fine with my steering setup (Mustang II non-power). Need to work on wiring next, fix a few glitches and a couple small leaks. Anyone know what speedo gear I need for a C4 and a 27.5" tall rear tire to work with the stock '57 cluster? Any ideas here?
Just came in from the shop. Got the turn-outs put on the exhaust and all the hangers so that's all buttoned up. Exhaust comes out just in front of the rear tires with slash cut tips and sounds great with the new 2.25" Thrush turbo muflers.
Finally making some progress on it again.
Got the 292 pretty much torn apart for rebuilding for my '61 Unibody. Putting it back pretty much stock with a 4bbl intake and 600 Holley. Will probably have to be 060 over. Nothing fancy.
I perfectly understand the above comment about getting older and setting higher goals. I've worked harder on this project the last few years than I would have dreamed of 30+ years ago!
Tomorrow night it's get the race car in the shop and get it ready for another weekend of "fun".
Later everyone,

Looks like you've been busy... I have the Cummins job down to just putting oil in the trans, mount the shift boot, and might as well fix the clutch fan while I am at it... so that's just about wrapped up.FINALLY!
Some of those "repairs" look like the 78 project I have. The floor pans were "patched" with corrugated tin, looks more like bin wall that roofing tin...
