hey guys, i am haveing a little problem, the blower motor for my heat in my truck only works on high. what could this be is it time to buy a new one, or could it be a fuse some were? thanks, steve.
Have you checked the resistor block that is housed in the heater airbox on the engine side of the firewall. Your truck is old enough that the resistors or the electrical connections are bad. If the connector is corroded, clean it up. If the resistors are defective, replace the block. It is not that expensive and is easy to replace.
All you need to do (I'm assuming your are going to replace the heater resistor) is to disconnect the wire harness from the unit and remove the two screws that hold the unit to the heater air box. Pull the old unit out, insert the new unit, put the screws in, and hook up the wire connector. You should be good to go and have multiple blower speeds available. As an extra safety precaution, you probably should disconnect the battery before you do any of this. The heater resistor runs about $30.
hey i went out today after work to clean the resistor pack and three terminals came out with the wiring harness. so i oredered one from ford today 22 bucks pick it up tomarrow and ill let you guys know how i made out. there was alot of rust on everything so this seems like it should work, im keeping my fingers crossed. thanks for all the help guys. steve
If the resistor pack is fine, the problem may be worn out bearings on the blower, as was mine. Mine had the exact same symptoms, would only work on high. I also cleaned and replaced the resistor pack, no luck. The new blower motor, only about $25, worked great. Now my truck blows better than ever and is much more quiet.
YES! If contacts not corroded replace the thermal fuse, RS $4.00
Thanks, I checked each spped with key on motor off. I have low and High. Missing med low and med high. I pulled it out today and it is rusty, I cleaned it up with a soft wire wheel on my dremel tool but still only have low and high.

Thanks for all the help. I tried cleaning up the block today but the pins that plug to theharness were too badly rusted and were paperthin. I ended up buying a new one for $21.00 + tax at the dealer. I still had a hard time getting the new one to make good connection. Ford should have sealed thease up to keep the moisture out..
