Back up camera installed, now my setup is complete!
Well, my back up camera showed up yesterday, and got it all hooked up. Works good! It is not wireless, but it was nothing to run the wire to the headunit. So now my setup is complete.......new head unit, headrest monitors, backup camera, tranny gauge, and tow mirrors!!
If you tow a travel trailer then get one more camera to mount on the back of it and run the cable up to
a plug on your bumper so you can switch camera views when you are towing your trailer.

This is a great mod!!!
And your setup looks great! Good work
Ohh geez, time to spend a little more money!! did you do that yourself??
Yes, I did mine myself. I just mounted the camera on the back of my trailer and ran an rca cable up to the tongue.
I hooked the camera power to a toggle switch on the trailer so when not in use I just turn off the camera.
In the truck I just ran an rca cable from under my dash to the rear bumper where I added an rca jack next to the trailer plug.
(when I tow the trailer I just unplug the truck camera from under the dash and plug in the trailer camera)
You will love having a camera on the back of your trailer for anytime you have to back it up and also going down the
freeway so you know exactly where the cars are behind you!!!
Here's a picture that shows my rca jack next to my trailer plug:
i might have to do that!! The only thing i would be concerend with is the salt here in michigan, and the rca rusting out. I will have to think about it and see what else i can come up with. I need to do this in the next 4 weeks before we take off with the trailer for 2 weeks!
Better way to install those is like they do on RV.s mount up top by 3rd brake light facing downward then you can see the whole rear of your bumper when you are backing up as well as a good view to the sides
Acually, it works good backing up to the trailer, with my receiver in, i can see the ball. works awsome. I never thought about mounting it up high, but i didnt have to drill any holes this way!
If your mounting a camera on your trailer then definitely mount it up at the top of your trailer aiming downward,
this makes it very easy to judge the distance behind your trailer.
No ones setup is complete! haha lol But i do love the idea of the back up cam and the back up cam on the rear of the trailer. Rep points to both of you
Is that a Audiovox backup camera? I just installed mine that looks the same except its wireless. Works great, I can hook up the trailer on the first try, it makes me look talented.

Thanks! Yeah, no set up is ever complete, I should have said "my new setup is complete.....for now!!" lol
Finally got your backup camera on... Nice. Big screen... I really do like those mirrors. I think I am going to buy some off ebay like you did. Question on the mirrors rb84... I have the same mirror set up you did with the red turn signals. When you spliced the wires to the new mirrors how did you know how to wire them up for you X??? And does your X now have a running light set up in the mirror??? If so..how did you find and use those wires for the running light since they dont come on the stock mirrors?
I had to splice the wires to the new mirrors. The new mirror colors are......Black w/white stripe - mirror heat.
Brown - parking light.
Black - ground.
Mint green - left turn signal.
White - right turn signal on the passanger mirror.
I had to run a new wire for the running lights and pulled out the headlight switch and tapped into the brown wire there. It was pretty easy start to finish. Maybe took me an hour with all the splicing and running the new wires.
Feel free to ask if you have any questions when you get them!!
