I have to say that the camera that we have on the rear of the trailer is a life saver. It makes it super easy to back up around objects. We have a video switcher that we use to change between cameras and we used a weather proof molex connector to run the connection between then trailer and truck. This makes it very easy to toggle (with a switch) between the two cameras.
So how are you guys running the wires?? Its a little harder to "bury" the wires on a travel trailer. I wanna keep the camera up high, but not sure how to run the wire to the tounge of the trailer. I might have found a decent camera that i wanna order.
True, if you have that nice screen - gotta use it. looks like there are a few around but had a mini-usb and not RCA outs. if you have another av-in on that and you do find a wireless that would work could always run a 2nd on the trailer later.

I ran mine through the frame rail to the back of the trailer. I just have my camera down low since it is such a wide angle I can see pretty much everything that I want to. I have had the same camera on the X for 5 years and know exactly the angles and distances that I can go so I didn't see a reason to put it up high in my case. If you do want to put it up high there are usually wall chases where the light switches are and you can run up those to the roof and transfer to the roof to run to the middle. Like I said about the connect at the tounge; I used a four pin trailer connection that is opposite of the connection of the existing plugs on the X. This way I can use that as an all weather molex. The idea is use the trailer end on the truck and use the car end on the trailer so you dont get mixed up and try to plug in the wrong one. The conductor that is visible must be the graound so you don;t cause any power problems. I will try to post some pictures tomorrow when we hook up the trailer to move to New York for a week.
Does anyone know if a backup camera can be installed with a head unit that does not have a dedicated backup camera input such as the one mentioned below?. Can the rca video input be used?
