I suspect that the TC was not drained. Furthermore, I suspect that he wants to take the TC out to drain it.

So, there is a little black rubber plug on the bottom of the transmission bell housing (at the bottom). You will likely need to rotate the engine(either by turning the starter or turning the engine manually....if you use the starter method, disconnect the neg cable to the battery first). This will turn the torque converter until you see the actual drain plug on it(Inside the hole you removed the plug from). This should have been drained at the same time, as it holds a lot of fluid. By not draining it, you have mixed quite a bit of old/bad fluid back in with the new fluid, thereby decreasing the effectiveness of the fluid change. When you refill the tranny after a TC drain, you need to refill it. Fill your tranny up to the proper levels and then turn it over a few times to fill up the TC. Then recheck levels and adjust as necessary.
Given however, that you were towing in OD and the tranny overheated causing it do dump fluid out the front and add to the fact that it was likely the wrong fluid, I suspect that the damage is done. Likely the TC now needs to be replaced if not more.
I would post your situation in the transmission forum. Give all the details and you may get some good responses there.
Good Luck!
i did not know about the tc having a drain plug see i did the flush last year in my auto shop at school and when he did the demonstration he didnt say anything about the tc and a drain plug. i will have to try and flush again is it possible that the tc is partially blown and hasnt fully blown yet because i was driving it the other dfay not beating on it and it only would shift in to od manualy but it was easyer to shift then a couple of months ago i did use the right fluid i made sure of that i thought that the tc might be blown that is why i am debating on pulling the tc out
