How about the automatic trans? It uses this input to shift.
Good idea, I actually hadnt thought of that, but I have this feeling the pcm does have a back up plan. When people complain of having no speedo anymore, and you tell them to replace that sensor, you dont hear too much about them also telling of it staying in first gear. Shifting may not be on par, but should be in the ball park.

I agree
EDIT: Also, I suppose what I have said is purely speculation, and could be deemed worthless. But Im also pretty certain thats how it works.
dont know if it has changed, but on the OBS pickups it was simply pulling a fuse. You lose the cruise control with it as well, but everything else worked except the speedo and odometer.
IIRC the 99's still had the same setup, but I think it killed a couple more accessories. Not sure.
well if your renting a one way truck, they will have a pretty good odea of how far the distance is. Also, if you use ryder, they have a GPS tracking system that logs miles. I used to install them.
Most importantly, I am really sorry to hear about your situation. I hope you can recover soon and without much loss.
i had fuse # 19 blow on me the other night and lost function of all guages till i replaced it the next morning. also when i openend the door it lock then unlocked and kept repeating till i turned the key off. all fixed with a $0.50 fuse. 99 f25o

The trans will shift, but it will beat itself to death trying to figure out WTF is going on without the VSS plugged in.
Your right Im proud of my mileage and have absolutely no intentions of selling my truck. I hope I don't get arrested for this but here it goes....I am one those millions of americans facing foreclosure, If I am kicked out of my house by the Constable I am going to have to pack up and rent a moving truck. Well with very little to no money I may have to fudge the miles to save a buck, Not that I want to but gonna have to figure out something and quick. So moderator feel free to kill this thread because it is unscrupulous and totally inappropriate. I hope I did'nt P.O. too many people with this post.

Unfortunately if you're making a 200 mile one-way trip and it shows 40 miles they'll know something is screwy if they have half a brain.

60RatRod, I too am sorry to hear of your situation. As you can see, I'm a fellow USAF and Desert Storm Veteran. I ask to you to reconsider what you're thinking of doing.
Sometimes people faced with a desperate situation panic somewhat and think of short-term solutions instead of the long-term ramifications.
Perhaps since you haven't posted lately you've decided against this choice. Have you contacted the VA? They do have people who may be able to help you with your situation.
Please don't give up, or in. Use the strength you had to get you through "Desert Storm" and seek out your Creator, he can get you through this "Storm" if you ask him! PM me if you need to talk! V/r Les
Last time I rented a U-Haul one way, I was given a certain number of days and a certain number of miles at a fixed rate. The amount of time and miles given was plenty to get there, so there was no need to be concerned about the mileage. Maybe that is a legal way you can figure out your move.
Thank you Les, good advice! Yeah I am in a panic mode but I know things have a way of working things out. Looking at the possibility of borrowing a guys trailer right now. The Super Duty can handle towing it!
Thanks Dan

Hey Dan, good luck to you, things will work out, my company filled for chapter 11 with 1800 full and part timers and 4000 total employees. Trying to restucture their debt but were all sweating.
Dan I watched a news clip the other day about foreclosures and they said that there is a loop hole in the system that will at least buy more time and maybe get you out of your obligation totally. The is term "Produce the note".
Here is a link explaining it much better than I could.
