OBDII Port question
Does anyone know if the OBDII test port that's under the dash is fused?
The reason I ask is because yesterday I was trying to run a scan with my handheld on a buddies Explorer but I kept getting a "Link Error" code. So I went to my truck where I know the scanner works and tried it there. When I plugged the scanner in to my truck, it would not even power-up. I know the scanner works on my truck because I've used it before.
Any ideas?

Yep, check your owners manual, mine was, I want to say it was tied to the lighter but it's been awhile since I changed it.

Yes, it is fused, and it does use the same fuse as the lighter.

Like everyone has said the cig. lighter uses same fuse. I think it is like that on all cars 96-present.

Boy that was a fun time trying to get the xCal 2 to power up and it wouldn't because of that dinky fuse.

Thanks guys! The fuse was the problem.
I'm wondering though, what would have caused it to blow. I don't even use the cigarette lighter and rarely use the data port.
Oh well, it works now.

Congrats on the retirement! I retired from the Army in 2003. Feels good doesn't it.
