ford rear leaf flexomatic question

Hi guys

i have tried looking this weekend and only found LMC to be a supplier of flexomatic spring parts or springs. I have not called my local shop yet but can these be re-arched like traditional springs? Any other supplier I am missing out there. I am going to respring and bush my front end and I am pretty sure the rearend will need to be done as well

The springs are the same with or without Flexomatic.

What is different is the compensator that attaches to the rear of the rear springs, the rear shackle brackets, rear spring to frame brackets and (possibly) the bushings.

All these parts may be available NOS from obsolete parts vendors, or may be still available from Ford, since LMC is a middleman, and so...makes next to nothing they sell.

There are additional bushings used with Flexomatic. They may be the same bushings with or without Flexomatic, but you failed to mention what year/series your truck is.

Your profile says you have a 2003 F350. Obviously, that's not what you want these parts for.

Please, when asking questions, list all the pertinent info. If an F250, please list the GVW (6200 or 6800 or 7500 or 8100).

Flex-matic

G-M
Dennis Carpenter has a online catalog and they show a picture of rear springs set up of the flex-matic on page 18. Also NPD shows it on page 64. I have the same set up.

Prolly scanned from the parts catalog.

If you want the official info, the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog is available on a CD from hipoparts.com for 22 bucks.

There are 4,849 pages of text, 1,961 pages of illustrations.

Since EVERY part is illustrated, the catalog can also be used as an assembly/dis-assembly manual.

Flex-O-Matic: Illustration section 55, Page 15.

btw: 1970/72 F250 2WD: The rear spring bushings are specific to Flex-O-Matic and F500 and larger trucks: C8TZ5781A (replaced DOHZ5781A).

These bushings are obsolete, but many still exist in dealers inventories, obsolete parts vendors. If the spring shop can't find them, let me know.

thanks for the info and If they cannot find them I will def give you a call. As for the front end I plan on rebushing the whole thing as well as new springs and a steering stabilizer. Since I will be towing I would not want to go more than 2 inches on a lift if at all but was wondering if you might be able to reccomend a set of front springs as you seem to know your stuff. progressive rate or HD? Also would a rear sway bar be advisable?

Ford didn't offer a sway bar on anything till 1973...why I dunno.

Some pre 1972 trucks have them, as they were sold by places that sold campers and by front end shops.

btw: I sent you my # via a P/M.
