Anyone know where to buy stock headgaskets at a reasonable price. Ford dealer is telling me $557.00 for headgasket kit. 18mm dowels. Seems crazy that you can only buy them with the headbolts, as Ford can shove them up their azz.
what year, and engine size? what type of vehicle is it? did you try napa, some of the engines require headbolts that you can only be torqued once and take a fancy torque extension socket. Instead of the old ft. lb. method . See this crap even on diesel tractors.
bunch of commies have over taken the engineering depts.ha ha...
My truck just got new head gaskets and ARP studs. I got the gaskets from ford, it was under $400 (can't find reciept at the moment to give you exact amount) maybe call around to other nearby dealers for price?
I debated hard about buying them off ebay. Some good prices if you watch.
I'm glad I got them from Ford, just did want to chance it with aftermarket or Ebay. Just my 2 cents...
I forgot to mention how I figured out the dowl size. You have to get the engine serial # and build location, then you can cross reference which size dowels 18 or 20. I google searched this and found this C:\Users\owner\Documents\ford gasket.mht
hope this helps
Opps, I see I made a mistake. I thought I had the web link for this refernce chart, instead I saved it as a word document on my computer. I can't get it to paste to this forum??
I will try to find the link where I found this reference chart.
