Dealer installed AC
what i really want to know is, is there any way to use the factory a/c controlls with the economy style aftermarket unit? then you would have the best of both worlds, the clean interior of a factory a/c truck and the clean engine bay of a dealer installed unit.

The controls are under the dash and the vents are in the factory locations. No idea who made it though.

Those pictures are actually the Factory installed Air Conditioning and Heater for the 1968-1972 trucks.
My 1972 had factory air conditioning. Identical unit pictured. The heater and the A/C are one unit.
Here are some brochure pics of the Factory 1972 air conditioner...

And yes they were butt ugly. Why they didn't even show the full air conditioner in the brochure. It took up 90% of the glovebox, and your passenger kept putting their feet through the condenser/evaporator, because it took up 90% of the leg room on the passenger side.

still curious to see the real deluxe a/cc system...

The Directly above is a Dealer Installed.
Another Dealer Installed A/C.
There are probably a couple pictures I have missed,I will look again at a later date.
And that HANG ON UNIT is GYPO aka aftermarket A/C. That's similar to the dealer installed Ford A/C used on 1965/66 F100/250's, except not at that extreme angle, and there were four round registers.
You have the parts catalog, so why do you post pics of A/C's that are not correct...when you can look in the catalog and see the correct types?
1973 and later: ALL the F100/350 Ford dealer A/C's are in-dash.
GO HERE = ILLUSTRATION SECTION 195 PAGE 10 = ECONOMY A/C.
Note to fellow members: If I could scan and post pics....which would end all the confusion forever...I would, but...
I'm using the 1973/79 Ford truck parts catalogs on FoMoCo microfiche slides.
There is no dealer Hang-On A/C used on any 1973/79 F100/350.
Look thru the illustrations in the catalog, see if you can find a pic of one. Good luck, cuz there isn't any.
Why did you bother posting that pic? Is it because I said there was no Hang On A/C used in these trucks from Ford, and the caption says Hang-On A/C?
Trying to prove me wrong, huh. Well...sorry to burst your bubble kiddo, that pic is captioned wrong for a truck...you wanna know why?
It was taken from the '73/79 CAR parts catalog (ILLUSTRATION SECTION 195 / PAGE 11), and in that catalog is says 1973/78 LTD use with Hang On A/C.
Ford just used the same pic in the truck catalog, removed the LTD reference, than added the F100/350 ref.
