i don't think they've printed anything saying 400....i think thats all been rumors
Nah, im preaty sure ive got a brochure from my local dealer that has it rated at 400hp. Ill look for it and post back once ive found it, i may be wrong, and i hope i am.
i would like to have got one but from what i found out its only going to come in a super cab
the 09 extended cab is big, though if your used to crews you may want more. I like the look and better off road ability of Extended cabs- best compromise of looks and practicality for me.
this ford publication was sent to me from bankston ford arlinton tx. its the spring issue2009 of ford myfordmag.com. every dealer carries this in there stores. it says and i quote,a 500hp 6.2 literv8 calibrated to handle the stop-start brutality of racing will be available in summer 2009. it also says a new taurus SHO will have 365 hp. this is a factory ford publication available at any dealer. believe it or not i dont care.

I think everyone wants to believe you so bad that they can't come to terms with it. I mean, 500hp......HOLY S$%# !!!!! From a purely performance standpoint, that will be INSANE. That ought to shut up Edmunds. On second thought, I'm sure they will find something else to bitch about.

thats so flipping awesome, i am sooooooooooooo glad i was wrong, thanks for the info. 500 sounds a whole lot better than the 400 that i thought was it had (thats what i get for thinking huh?)

Yeah the 6.2 wont make any difference because the Ram has a heated wheel and thats more important than a truck that is designed to be a truck and carry and tow loads.
i still cant hardly believe it myself. i wish i had a way to scan it. it has a new red mustang convert on the front of the promo mag. it also says that raptor has 13 inches of suspension travel. the base v8 in the raptor will be a 320 hp 5.4 if im going to buy one of those it would have to have the 6.2. they said in the artical they ran a pure stock raptor at baja with only safety equipment added and finished in 25 hours. thats haulin for factory stock truck.
Got to admit that if Ford does bring out a 6.2 with 500hp it will shut all these muppets up about ford being behind on power. It can be done as we know and hopefully it dont need forced induction to get this power. The raptor will be badass if that engine really can put out that power. Thats got to be a good 5 sec to 60 and 13 sec qtr mile.
13 sec quarter mile easy, a supercrew roush truck with 430hp give or take and 3.73 gears runs about a 14. I would say 12 or 11, i mean it has 500 hp, 4.10, 2 more gears, and lockable rear differental
500hp......yeah, this thing will be a blast to drive, for sure.
However, I bet you money that all the enthusiasm for this engine will vanish like a fart in the wind once gas prices get back up to $4.00+/gallon.
Of course it will. I cant see a 500hp 6.2 getting any better than 15mpg Highway. 17 mpg would be nice but im sure it wont happen. If Edmunds can only get 12.6 out of a 5.4 unloaded then the 6.2 will be lucky to get 9-10mpg.

I'm starting to think they did that whole test with the emergency brake on.
