If the the stock housing is clearing, then there's an issue with that ported housing. My ATS has no problems -- I'd call Dennis today and see if there have been any other problems with that housing. Ron sells that same housing, so you might call him to see if he's ever had that problem as well.

No smart a$$ comment taken. I didn't want to do anything until I talked to Dennis because he might want me to send it back or something. He just started carrying this line of housings.

I talked to Dennis today and took some pics of the rubbing for him. He said it looked like a slight machining issue and relayed the pictures to the manufacturer. He advised me to just use some fine grit sandpaper and smooth up the area where it's rubbing. There's a very slight "ridge" that it appears to be rubbing so if I take that down it should take care of it. The other option would be to box it back up and send back, but that's even more downtime, so I'm going to be sanding tonight!

Thanks for all the advise and I'll let you know how it goes!!

Well, used some 220 grit sandpaper and smoothed up the radius where the wheel was touching. There was a small ridge all the way around from the factory machining. Although the wheel wasn't hitting it all the way around, I smoothed it up too. Then followed with some 400 grit for a super smooth finish. Happy to report all is good and there is no more contact between wheel and housing!! Will be installing this weekend.

Is there any way to measure the clearance between the housing and the wheel? I'd sure hate to see things move a little when that turbo warms up and tear itself to pieces. (I hate to be devil's advocate, but someone has to do it! Yes I am an agent of Satan, but my duties are largely ceremonial )

I'm sure there is but I darn sure don't have the tools to do it. As far as expansion/movement of parts when it's warmed up, someone else would have to chime in on that thought. From what I've seen on stock turbos, there's very little tolerance between the wheel and housing. Probably designed that way for the best air flow and efficiency. But again, someone could better explain it.
