'06 taurus display problem

I have a 2006 taurus SEL with the 3.0 vulcan and auto trans (floor console shift). Today when driving all of the info. in the info cluster btwn the tach and speedo started looking really weird. Some of the numbers/ words wernt there, others flickered. It sort of reminded me of a messed up calculator screen. I tried pushing the 3 buttons that change the display, the display does change but it is still messed up looking. It continued to do this after the car was shut off and re-started. Also, i dont know if this would affect it, but it has been snowing all day and is moist out. Has anyone had this problem before, if so, how did you fix it.

Thanks

Welcome to FTE. It sounds as if the display LCD is losing connectivity.

How cold is it outside? The digital dash on my 89 town car would act up in extremely cold weather the same way that you describe your issue. Also, the clock and radio LCD dial numbers would seem "frozen" and unable to be read, looked like it was 88:88. My radio LCD on my F-150 does this when its below zero. Once it warms up inside or the weather warms up all would return to normal. Check your screen on a warmer day to see if it acts up. If it still acts up when its warmer and drier out there could be a connection issue or a problem in the computer.

thanks for the replies y'all, it was about 30 on the day it started doing it, it got colder yesterday and today. but a month ago it got down to -15 and everything seemed fine in it, other than a little delay in the inital gauge movement when it was started, on that day only. Also, it now occasionally makes a faint, high pitch noise, when it does this the display blacks out. When it comes back on it is still messed up looking, but the noise is gone.
