Here you go CharGriller,

Scan Gauge II Worth getting ??? - Nissan Xterra Forum: Xterra Forums

I've also heard good things about them in the Excursion section here every once in a while. I think Monsta has one and really likes it. It's on my list once I get the $$.

Hope that helps!

DashDAQ is better then the scan gauge. You can pick up codes that are manufactor specific not just the normal codes that any code reader/tuner can pick up. You do have to pay for a license for those enhancements(like you would for autoenginuity(another program I would recommend)), but it is well worth it. I have pictures of the DashDAQ in the Beta Spartan Phalanx gallery. The cable and tuning would not apply to the OP as the tuning capabilities in my case in particular is for the 6.0 and there is a version for the 6.4.

Here is the link: http://www.dashdaq.com/

Holy PowerStoke Batman! Yes Robin ...me thinks we'll have to research this a bit further. Tell Alfred to put our other plans on hold while I contact the lab.

The price makes one go "gulp". BUT..........when I take into account approx $ 329 or so for some nice A-pillar, two gage "boost & EGT" mechanical gages and then plug another $ 189.00 for the ScanGauge and blend mount?

Then compare the price and what all I could get with the DashDaq....Hummmmmmm. And it's all wrapped up so beautifully. I've got some research to do for sure. Thanks Tex!

Tex I explored the "Ford List" of options...it seems it can read the EGT. Do you know first hand anything about that particular parameter?

It can read EGTs, boost, and oil psi, but they do require external pieces for the 6.0. You don't need them for the 6.4, you may not need them for the gassers, I don't know. I would imagine with the 7.3, you would need them as well.

There are other things that this does that you cannot get mechanical gauges for and you cannot get the scangauge to do, but you can do with the dashdaq with the enhanced features is look at cylinder pressure(this applies to tuned vehicles that don't have a/m fasteners on the heads, like ARPs etc), fuel rail pressure, inj. timing, the list goes on and on.

Tex I just finished viewing your pics of your Dashdaq and couldn't help noting the plethora of mechanical gages.

Does the DashDaq seem to agree with the mechanical gages? And when you say I would need external parts ...do you mean like a thermocouple for the EGT for example? And how would it attach...through a usb? Does Dashdaq have the needed externals?

It agrees with EOT, ECT, Volts, Fuel PSI, and roughly TFT. The others I am unable to measure because I don't have the externals for the DashDAQ(EGT, Boost, Oil PSI).

TFT there is a 2-4 degree difference between the two that I have notice. The dashdaq reading is a tad hotter, I don't think that degree difference is worth noting a lot of as if you were to get a short sweep tranny gauge, you could easily be off on your reading that gauge by 2-4 degrees(if not more) depending on where it was on the gauges range of display.

Yes, you would need the probes. The probes mount were they would normally go for the regular analog gauges(mine are are electric, not much of a fan of mechanical ones, particularly with the fluids) except the other end would go into for a lack of a better word a "hub" with only one output that goes into the dashdaq. Think of it as a 4-port USB hub for a computer. However, the ends are not usb ends they are funky ends. There is an article of the DashDAQ on the main page in the article section. This should take you there: https://www.ford-trucks.com/article/..._And_More.html

Towards the end it shows the back of the DAQ and look for the serial/analog port and that is where the "hub's" output wire plugs into.
