I have read a few posts on this and most people say the liberator system is a bad choice. I have looked at the edge racing one and the price is about the same. Also seen some post's that say the liberator is a very nice system for the money good welds and good support. How nessasary is this system? I only plan on putting a banks high ram intake, 4" nbrp exhaust and a volant cold air. I already have a egt trans temp and fuel pressur gauge cluster, also a Quadzilla xzillarator with up to 120 hp.
save your money on the intake and buy egr delete off of steath's website for <$300, or better yet get Adam's full delete from first coast. Should set you right up.
As a mechanic of 10 yrs, (and having done it before) i would say most mechanically inclined people could accomplish an egr delete given enough time and education (mainly reading up on the procedure, there are several writeups pertaining to the subject).
That being said, it is tedious, and there are several components that could cause major problems if removed or reinstalled incorrectly. You also spend a great deal of time laying on your stomach, your back, or kneeling in the engine bay. I would figure in a full day for the install. A well rounded tool set is nice, as there are several hard to get to fasteners that are much easier to remove with wobble or u-joint attachments. It's also very helpful to have all the misc. gaskets, orings, up-pipe bolts and any other new parts you will need before you tear into it. Also a good time to do the CCV reroute. The best advice i can give you is read, read, read, and don't hesitate to ask before you break something expensive. (could've saved myself so much money over the years if i'd have applied that principle) Good luck!
What year is your truck? Mine is an 06, and it did throw a code with the EGR valve installed, plugged in, but the flow blocked by the sneaky pipe upgrade. Depends on the year of truck. But i just run with an SCT tuner to get rid of the CEL.
