Do me a favor and please do not take this the wrong way, next time you are in the store ASK the store manager or the District manager. They will be happy to tell you about the workforce. I used to work for Walmart for many years and whenever we had a new store opening up we would use Temp agencies to help with the workload. There is nothing sinister about it. Many temps would stay on permanent if they were hard workers. By the way, Walmart pays above minimum wage.

Well said. My wife started off at Walmart from a temp agency and now 10 years later she is a Asistant Manager. After her bonus she makes over 60K a year. That's a great wage. If you work hard for Walmart they move you up the ladder pretty quickly.

Can anyone else here verify what Shorebird is saying? If true( i dont know, either way,so im not necessarily disputing it?) this doesnt sound particularly good, but ive also heard a lot of criticism of Wal-marts corporate practices! to be fair,im also aware that its fashionable to hate walmart, just like the big oil companies.

ok......

You saw a bunch of black people working at a walmart.

Im thinking this is similar to the walmart in Laurel Md.

Why pray tell do you think they were imported for this task?

Something is missing from the story....

This post sounds a little ignorant, and before you respond that im just another Ca. liberal, its true im from Ca,but im actually rather conservative on many issues.........Did you take the time to poll these workers, and determine that they are indeed first generation, and from the same country? If not,may i politely suggest looking at a world atlas, you will discover quite a few different countries exist on the dark continent.......THe guy from Austin who you got into a shouting match with may very well have made erroneous assumptions about YOU as well, but your posts did sound a little prejudicial.besides have you or an acquaintance been denied a job at walmart, that you are of the opinion was instead given to one of these workers?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but ive got to tell you FMC400 did provide some intelligent comments, and the remark about Austin and CA being the same, and hence bad, again sounds ignorant on your part......When someone disagrees with you or questions your post, you cant necessarily infer that they arent intelligent.

Oh boy. It wasn't a disagreement. FMC400 wasn't answering the proposed question. Instead, he automatically ***-U-MED I was a racist bigot and proceeded to tell me to get over it, they have rights just like anyone else. In reality, I only recognized that these folks were from another country due to their ACCENT not their COLOR. It was then through observation and conversation that I realized that a large percentage of the workers had similar traits. After this realization, I began to wonder how Walmart could afford to bring folks in from another country when Walmart jobs are low paying jobs. Now, do you get it?

Another thing. I don't need to look at an atlas. I've been to several countries on the African continent. I lived just east of Egypt.

Lastly, I don't need nor have I ever applied for a job at Walmart. When I retire in 8 or 10 years, I'll put it on my list.

I asked you what problem you have with the situation. You take that as me calling you racist; that is your own issue. I stated that you can not verify that Wal Mart is supporting them until you have some sort of proof, of which you have none. You are only guessing this is the case based on visual indicators of the individuals, which is an "***-U-MPTION."

Keeping these quotes in mind, I find it really interesting that you used the word "bigot" in your last post.

World of difference between an accent or dialect of English and English spoken as a second language.
Also, have you ever seen an actual person from Africa? They make our "African Americans" look white.
