Welcome to FTE. Odds are it's something cheaper. Don't have time to type it all out now, but here's a link to the same problem that will show you how to test this with an ohm meter and get you fixed up with just a couple of hours labor and no more than 50 cents in parts usually.

Try this, I had the same thing last weekend, turned out to be a wire on the harness that rides over the valve cover that was rubbed thro the insulation,
