AE Scanner need help P1670

HI i bought AE with ford bundle pull P1670 i have only one batery because my second one is bad i change both in future this fix the problem I need more information about using AE How i can setup my vehicle on this program to pull maxinformation

It means there's a lack of communication between the PCM & IDM. After you have the AE plugged in and you pull the codes, look at the top and there are a few tabs to choose from. It seems like the 2nd tab is live data, and the 3rd or 4th tab is for on board tests. On the test page you want to try and run a KOEO (key on engine off) test and see what other codes you get. Part of the KOEO test might check some of your switches, so when codes pop up for the brake pedal, cruise control buttons, etc., ignore those and just focus on the engine codes. You can also do an injector buzz test with the engine off and you should be able to hear all 8 injectors buzz together, then each one buzz individually.

DTC P1668 and P1670 indicates that a communication error has occurred between the PCM and the IDM.
Possible causes:
Open fuse
IDM relay
Open or shorted IDM enable circuit
Open/short in EF circuit
Open/short in FDCS circuit
IDM powering circuits
PCM
Check for other codes.
Key on, engine off.
Perform KOEO On-Demand Self Test and retrieve Continuous DTCs.

I have total ford bundle and i can take on board test maybe is bad setup my vehicle they send me obd II scan tool conector and disk i activated enchanced for ford.AE show mesage on board test is not for obd II CONECTOR and is weight the vehicle some like that THANK YOU

Did you double check to make sure the AE has the activation code in it? The disk and OBDII connector is standard, and that's how it's supposed to be. If you click on help, then feature activation in the AE software, a screen should pop up and show you if the enhanced Ford bundle is activated or not.

The other possibility is you may have some setting wrong on the main page where AE starts. You can read through some info on the AE here ITP Powerstroke Diagnostic Hints

OK my 7.1 software not work corectly i download 7.0 and let me take on board test koeo test result p0470 and i think i now how to fix clean the tube p1294injector high side open bank 2 buzz test p 1294 i need help with this thank you Adam

I have other truck e-350 2001 7.3 one year diffrent and i have p0272 4 injector balance circut open i ts hard to fix

We'll start with the 2000. Yes go ahead and clean the tube. For the 1294, disconnect the flat plug that connects on the inboard side of the drivers valve cover. Turn the key on (don't start) and measure the voltage from the center pin to a good ground. Is it more or less than 1 volt? If it's more, you need to ohm the injectors on that side (key off). If you need to know how to ohm the injectors through the wiring connector let me know. If it's less than 1 volt, not the color of the center wire, then find that same color wire going into the back of the 42 pin connector (square box with a bolt going through it just above the drivers side valve cover. If you remove the bolt, you can check for continuity or resistance across that wire. Make sure to inspect the wiring closely right behind the square box to see if there is any sign of chaffed wires. If possible, have someone wiggle the wiring harness while you have the meter on it to see if anything shows up. If that checks out good, note the pin location, then the color of the wire coming out the other side of the 42 pin connector. You'll need to check that wire back to the IDM. These wires have been known to chaff against the drivers side valve cover, so check that as well.

It may be easier to skip the 42 pin connector for now and just check the wire from the valve cover all the way back to the IDM. It shows the center pin on the valve cover traces back to pin #23 on the IDM connector (which should be up above the wheel well liner on the drivers side.

On the 2001, did you get the 0272 code after performing a cylinder contribution test? First, I'd try the injector buzz test and see how that injector sounds compared to the rest of them. Next, after the engine is warmed up, go to the live data tab and in the drop down screens, you'll find the options to list rotational velocity readings. You can select each cylinder in it's own box and compare the numbers for all of them. If cylinder #4 is reading 5 or above, we need to look into this further.

On 2001 koer test completed succesuffuly contribution test P0272 cylinder 4 injector circut contribution?balance fault Engine temp 120 nothing all velocity 0 I can read number of missfire on 4 cylinder Its running and some sound like small piece metal inside somewere last time i claen fuel tank been dirty you help me too Chris temp 140 and 4 cylinder 4.8 when acelerating

I think the oil temp is supposed to me 160 or 170 to get accurate readings on the rotational velocity numbers. If it gets above 5.0, we'll need to look into it. Right now, I think it's just in a caution area and something to keep an eye on.
