"However, it should be noted that the Buick label is carried on vehicles that didn’t originate as Buicks. Instead, the Buick name has been applied to Daewoo vehicles, developed through GM’s venture in South Korea."
So,while its not made here, presumably it supports an American Company, its employees and company shareholders? maybe!
HANES (underware) announced it will have it's underware made overseas so they will get a bigger profit, leaving the american workers out of a job. The former employees say they are boycotting their products (I am too).
I think I will boycott ALL foreign made products for the year of 2009 and see whats happens. You would be surprised what you can live without.
Are you a pretty good seamstress? if not expect to be wearing mostly loincloths or pieces of animal hide....cause youve only got very limited options for clothing or shoes, and you may just find that some clothes may get produced near the Mexico border, utilizing the labor of illegals, which im assuming wouldnt be something that you wish to do.......Even companies that were making goods domestically just a couple years back have often shipped out overseas in the last year or so.............
I gave up on the buying american a long time ago.
We grew into a nation of pretty much lackadaisical about our production turn out to the point I paid almost 70 thousand dollars for a FORD that has had to have so many parts replaced this year alone that when December rolls around my 2000 will in reality be a 2009 model. I have bought rding clothes for my daughter that were made right here in good old USA and have seen the stitching come out and colors fade or item shrink. Her clothes made in england were hand me downs that are now on their third child.
I buy towels made in USA and they fade, unravel etc those I buy from China are amazing plushy towels that hold shape and color and are pretty dern fluffy a hundred washes later. We got to big for our britches. We sat back and watched China, japan etc build a better product. We opened the frikken gate and said HERE YOU DO IT! When I see a shirt made in USA for 25.00 and the same one made in china for 9.00 and look in my wallet and see ten dollars that the good old USA left me out of my hard bust *** for fifty bucks then I HAVE to buy the made in China. Hell I think the the only thing I have that wasn't made overseas is my daughters, cats and horses.
What is irking my butt right now is that we are having all this stupid crap gong on at the border of mexico right this very minute and on the same news show they are bragging that hershey sent the peppermint patty plant down there. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT? If my daughters friends didnt respect MY HOME they weren't welcome under any circumstance nor we my girls to go over there and play. Where is the logic in what the US is allowing? I just dont get it.
I am in a super bad mood right now and this topic is alot of the cause. GRRRRRR
Just curious.... did anyone read the article I posted?
The point is that American companies are letting other countries make junk and trinkets (for lack of a better word) and concentrating on making things only we can make.
I found it to be interesting and rather heartening.
