Central Vacuum Systems

It’s time to replace the electric vacuum head on my vacuum cleaner.

Has anyone ever gone from an electric head to one of those air-driven (Turbo) models?

Are they as good as the old electric powered head?

Was it a mistake?

Just curious.

I had an air driven one about 15 years ago...never happy with it. Of course...that having been said...the technology may be better now.

From experience, If Your going to get a new power head, get the new hose too. The power plugs seem to last only as long as the power head.

I've got one of those air driven heads. It's pretty much worthless

On a central vacuum system, it is the motor driven part that turns the brush to pick up the dirt and stuff. It looks about the same as a powerhead that is used on a canister vacuum cleaner.

I’m getting a whole new kit. This includes everything from the power head to connection that plugs into the wall outlet.

I had a feeling that someone was going to say that about the air driven vacuum heads. My better judgement is telling me to stay away.

One of these days, I am going to install a central vac system in our house. Trouble is, it is a very old and small house with no central walls in which to run the "plumbing" - at least not up to the second floor, let alond the finished attic space.
It is one of those "back burner" projects that I keep mulling over.
I have a lot of those....

It's all over now!

I broke down and bought a new kit with a motorized powerhead.

This turned into a bigger project than it should have!

My air head actually works fairly well, I was very surprised by it. I thought for sure it was going to be junk. That being said I will definitely have an electric head on the next one.
