Were would be a good spot to tie the gauge into so that when the key is turned the gauge turns on, I tried pulling mine out to look to see were I tied in but the wires and everything were to tight in there, any help would me great.

Which gauge are you writing about? Autometer makes several different styles. Is it an oil, vacuum, boost, amp meter, tach or any other of dozens?

 

you can tap in to a fuse. Just check them with a test light to find one that is key activated. You can also tap in to one of the wires coming from the ignition switch under the steering column.

 

The ones I’m putting in my buddy’s truck are Volts and Trans temp, there the c2 model, the gauge just needs the 12 volt source to turn them on when the key is turned forward. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

I ended up jumping it off of the delayed accessories fuse, and putting a 2 amp fuse in line with that. thanks for the help

 

Don't know what year truck you're working on, but my 2004 has a "customer access" wire (don't recall the color but I can check if you'd like) behind the dash, just to the right of the pedals. I found it with a piece of heat shrink over the end, taped back to a wiring harness. This wire is hot when the key is in the run position, but not the accessory position.

This wire shows up as fuse #29 in my owner's manual.
