lift kit options-
please post some pics of your trucks with either a 6" kit or a 4" kit (if there is such a thing)
thanks!

any info/suggestions are greatly appreciated
Pro Comp makes the 6" (6" front, 4" rear) and you can pick one up for about $1,200 on eBay right now.
I suggest you just do a leveling kit really. You can safely run 35" tires with minimal rubbing with a 2.5" leveling kit...and they cost about $69-89 depending on what brand you buy. Then get the 3" rear block (replaces the factory 2" block) to keep the rear end higher when towing and you'd be set
As for pulling power, you will still have plenty, even with the 35" tires. Your acceleration will be hurting somewhat, as will the braking, but overall the truck will handle the loads you are describing just fine.

If given the choice the to do it all over again... what would I do??? I would install the Rancho again. I love it! Its exactly what I wanted. I had a 2.5" leveling kit and ditched it for the Rancho. I wanted my truck to have a bigger, more aggressive look without going too big. I also wanted to fit 35's. I could fit 35's with a 4" and the same with the 6". I didn't care for 2" of extra wheel well space. (Its also been debated as to how much lift the Rancho actually gives, most people claim around 5". I don't know because I never measured my truck in stock form.) Also, I've seen pics of the Rancho running 33's and it still looked good. So I knew I didn't want to run larger than 35's, but in the future I could always step it down to 33's if I wanted to and it would still look good. The kit is very well designed and manufactured. I liked the subframe design compared to the other kits. Another reason I went for the Rancho is because I had the stock 20's, which I liked and wanted to keep, and Rancho is the only one that advertises to work with 6" backspacing wheels. I bought the lift for $1,800 with shocks which is a little more than you want to spend. It was a little cheaper than I could find the other kits I was looking at, plus I didn't have to buy new wheels.
Just keep an open mind when you are researching lift kits. Try to see some in person if you can. (You can easily tell what kind it is just by looking at the front crossmember.) That's what did it for me. I wasn't even considering Rancho (was looking at Fabtech and RCD) then I ran across an FX4 with the Rancho installed. Its all about what YOU want to get out of it. I've heard a million times go big because you'll wish you went bigger later.... true for some, but not for all. Superlift also offers a 4.5" kit and RCD's is adjustable from 4" to 6" (but I could only find it for about $2,400.)
Also, a tuner would probably be a nice addition to towing once you put 35's on (I'm still using the stock 3.73 gears). I've had the "canned" Edge and now use it just for a dash monitor since I went with custom tunes on an SCT XCal 3. I liked the programming better.
I have some pics "here" under the "Photos" section of my webpage.
the 4" gets the same results as the 6", just less clearance/height
take it from somebody who has done it before. Always get the bigger lift. You may think you only want a 4"...but once it's installed, you'll sit there thinking "Maybe I should have bought the 6 instead"
forgot to mention, but Superlift also has a 4.5" lift kit out there
Ill agree with that 100%. I look at my truck, Im happy with the 6" but kinda wish I went with the 8" kit.
