i'm pretty sure it's the throwout bearing doing the noisemaking but the squeal actually gets louder when i'm on the clutch pedal and goes mostly away when i'm off of the pedal. it sounds like a belt slipping.
now, most of the diagnosis i've read here has stated that the squeal should go away when i'm on the clutch. i'm gonna get into it this weekend but i want to make sure im not missing anything. any comments or suggestions are greatly apprecieated.
usually when they first start making noise they will do it when the clutch is engaged (no foot on petal)
but when they are totally screwed, they will squeal bad when the petal is in..
try and barely put your foot on the petal just enough for your TOB to touch the pressure plate and see if it squeals. if it does then that just means that your TOB doesn't touch your pressure plate when your clutch is engaged and it needs to be replaced..
TOB's go to hell all of the time, its pretty common
thanks for the insight. i'm warming up the garage right now, and got the part and all that. i'm gonna take a rack of pics so maybe i can post a diy thread on the operation.
thanks again for the information, i think i found a great site.
