I also ran heater hose once. Hose started weeping after about a year, and by the 2nd year I had to replace it.
I'm using clear vinyl hose I picked up at Home Depot. Hose still looks new, and it's been almost 2 years since I swapped it in.

Interesting, I would think the clear plastic wouldn't hold up too well to the heat and oil. I think I'll go this route.

The hose I gave my link to is "indestructible" and is "impervious" to any thing that flows through it! I've been using the same 20 ft length of this "sewer hose" since 1998 and it's been lying in the sun for the entire time. This hose is much stiffer than regular vinyl hose and it will not kink and the thicker wall gives more insulation against the cold!
