Check your exhaust. I have a 150 strait 6 and had shudder and it would die going slow . At idle or on the highway it wouldn't die but lacked power. I would have a check engine light on on highway speeds. Ran a check it came back with a few different codes, i.e: egr. o2 bank 1 rich, excessive torque converter slippage, and pcm to fuel pump problem. Turns out my cats where clogged bad and it would not allow the exhaust gas to leave my port and let air and fuel in causing all the problem. Changed the whole exhaust system and no more problems and a whole lotta more power. Hopefully yours is something like this and easy to fix. Good luck

my muffler and exhaust are new...cost a pretty penny. i still don't have a Cat...or an inspection. Actually, being about 600 short for repairs, I may be forced to sell The Beast
but, someday i will have a **** load of money and fix up another Beast
I'm sorry I don't have anything useful to add but I just noticed your screen name and wanted to say I'll be moving to WV in a few weeks! Nice to meet another FTE in WV.

I had the same problem on my 1988 1 ton 7.5/460 after several trips to the dealers and various mechanics and not to mention the $$$ arms & legs, sensors, filters, plugs, etc. it was a bad fuel pressure regulator. Which also helped the fuel mileage.
