"The Cure"

I searched the threads but I didn't find anything on this.

Is anyone using "The Cure" for their transmission.

I had one in my 96 PSD and I was thinking it would be good to get again. It helps with a better TC lock-up and the timing. Its suppose to extend the life of your tranny and TC.

Casey you back into a PSD?? sounds like it!! Congrats!!

The Cure works on the SD just as it does the OBS. Get it!!

You didn't by chance strip your fan setup for me off your OBS before you left Germany did you?

Tim you dirty dog. I knew we would catch up with each other again. I wish I had taken the fans off too. The kid that bought the truck didn't know much of what I had done to it. I wish I would have snagged the cure off it also.

I thought "The cure" would have been more popular with these guys, but it seems that more have gone with a tugger kit by transgo. I just want to do some maintianing so things dont go south with my transmission.

This is the first time hearing about this. Does this replace the need for a shift kit? Is it better? Thanks...

Casey they might like the Tugger as its a good kit but it doesn't address the the TC unlocking at the OD shift point. The SD's have a Pulse width modulated (PWM) torque converter lockup which means its not on/off like the OBS its a controlled slip into lockup. Its still somewhat quick (it doesn't take mminutes for it to fully lock) but its longer to lock up than the OBS. So that means its hard to "Feel" the Lockup. The PWM give it a more car like shift so its not as noticable. So since its not as noticeable many don't know the issue at hand.

Plus its a new prioduct made by an unknown builder so there are many skeptics. All the supporters fo The Cure are still in educate mode....

No The Cure does not replace the need for a shift kits. It can be used with or without a shift. Read the link that was posted and you will get alot of drama but you will also see where myself and a few others have fully explained The Cure. If you have more questions post back and I will try to answer them.

BTW I just use The Cure I have no affiliation with them.

I had planned on getting a DP within the next few months. Tim do you think "The cure" would work well with the DP in?

it would try to shift to 3rd or 4th (can't remember) and lock the torque at the same time resulting in a long dragged out shift, now it feels like a 5 speed it locks the torque after 3rd shift

""After the third Gear shift point the Transmission Torque Converter locks and unlocks causing slippage, excessive heat, reduced fuel efficiency, and thus shortens the transmissions life all due to shift timing issues. This is a "Shift Flair" problem at the the overdrive shift point of both the E4OD and 4R100. ""

My tranny only does this when down shifting not up shifting.

""The test for the problem:

Get on the Interstate and accelerate, notice and feel your overdrive shift point.
Then manually over-ride/cancel the over-drive; repeat the process of acceleration then once over 50 MPH engage the overdrive, notice and feel the shift point again, you will see that it will not have the "Shift Flair" problem. ""

I don't understand this. My OD kicks in around 45MPH if not heavy on the coals. Heck last few days I need to let off for it to shift into OD.

Casey The Cure will work great with a chip from DP. At least on the OBS Jody could not tunes out the shift flair that The Cure fixes. He sent me a chip with a calibration that he thought might do the same things and it still unlocked the TC at the OD shift point.

Not sure I understand what your asking?

rbaker its sounds to me like you and I are talking about different issues. Your issue sounds like a shift point change not a change in the TC unlocking and relocking during the OD shift event. The Cure does not change shift points other than its stops the TC from unlocking while the transmission is shifting into overdrive.

The Cure

I have a 2003 F250 5.4L witha 4r100 tranny. I am not sure if this is a flair problem or not, seems like it but need some help. Truck shifts fine at normal driving 1-2 2-3 3-4. When driving around town trying to maintain constant speed when I ease off the gas the tranny slips or seems like it does down shifts to 3rd then back into 4. No bucking or anything kinda smooth just annoying in and out of 4th to 3rd then back to 4th.

Do you think the cure will fix this or possible something else.

Thanks
