I see over loaded trucks in Saskatoon with full load of sand or too many bags of cement on a 1/2 ton. They seem to have no concept of what these materials weigh.......
Bags of cement is once Ive seen alot. At the place I worked at in alberta, we were always instructed to overload those dodge pick ups with cement and bads of anti-gel and whatnot.
I got to change the rea springs in my 85. Hauling ceramic molds for my wifes shop and we over loaded the weight with those molds several times. Now I cannot put much weight in the back and the truck does a sashaying down the highway. I recently got pulled over hauling some molds to the acrage. I only had a 1/4 of the box filled and the truck was swaying from side to side. The springs are very weak. Not broken, just weak. The officer was good to me since he knew me from being a first responder. But he said next time I better have them fixed. Or else he will serve me a summons to have it done or ticket. So once it warms up enough, I will be changing the rear springs. I have a good set on the 79 truck with the load levels springs also. Its a parts truck.
I wish I had my 78 3/4 going. It would have no problem hauling loads.
Always good to catch a break now and then.
When I changed the Ranger rear springs I left the main leaf in place and changed the rest of the spring pack. The rubber bushings like to seize on to the spring eye bolts making it necessary to cut those bolts off, a messy stinky job laying under neath the truck box!
