I am looking for advice. Have my F250 6.0 2005 at the local dealer for a oil leak. They got back to me and told me it has 5 leaks. Its covered under the 100,000 power train but they have to pull the motor to fix them all. Front cover, oil pan, rear main, rear cover, bearing ? They say it will take 5 to 7 days to fix. What do i have to be worried about when i get it back. The truck has been well maintained with only a few problems. It has 95,000 on it. What should i do next?
Let them fix it. You don't want to pay to fix 5 oil leaks out of your own pocket. All dealer repairs carry their own warranties and may get you past the 100,000 mile warranty depending on how many miles you drive a month. Do keep a close eye out for any leaks after you get the truck back and make sure your paper work reflects all the leaks repaired for future reference.
I'll let you know soon..... I just got my '05 F350 6.0 PSD back from our dealer here for Rear Main and a few other Misc leaks at 65k.. Hope you get yours back sooner. My dealer said 5 days but I picked it up in 3 days. We'll see how things go! But yea, better the 100 buck deductable than full price eh?
ooooo sounds like you got a leaking bed plate. the bedplate is basically the main rod bearing caps but its in one big piece. nothing to worry about it sounds normal for a 6.0L. They are probably going to remove your cab so look for dirty finger prints when they're done. bed plates pay good money to a tech be happy your not paying for it. -6.0L tech.
looks like you may be getting a new short block, i took mine in for a bedplate oil leak and it came back with a new motor, pwr steering pump and more new goodies all under warranty, let them take of it for you... while its out if there is any leakage around the pwr steer pump have it changed out, alot easier whith motor out and check your alternator for the right amperage... it is hard on batteries and alternator when they have it all back together and have to fill the HPOP by continious cranking.

I think you ment to say the main bearing cap, not the rod bearing caps.
are any of these leaks a drip leak?? My engine looks like the pan and flywheel housing was dipped in oil (lol) but it does not drip on my shop floor. Also don't notice the oil level going down on the dipstick. Just curious. I would also like my motor to be clean.

Sorry to hijack but is the power steering pump the black thing under the degauss bottle? The underneath of mine is covered with power steering fluid that drips once in a while. Is this covered under the 5yr/100,000 mile warranty? Thanks.

thats your hydroboost for the powerbrakes, it runs off the power steering pump, the power steering pump is on the bottom driver's side of the engine

Oh, I have heard some guy's talking about the hydroboost.. so thats what it is. Thank you guy's! Well mine is leaking pretty good on the bottom, also the canister looking thing next to it (between the hydroboost and the engine) is covered in fluid also. Is the hydroboost also covered under warranty? I actually have some pictures in my gallery of it.
From your description that sounds like your master cylinder leaking. Unless you have ESP warranty, they are only covered under the 3yr./36,000 miles warranty. If they are leaking you need to take care of them ASAP or you are headed for a disaster.
its not your master cylinder. hydroboost runs off of the power steering fluid, correct. if its leaking it could be the hydroboost or just the plastic sealing o rings on the high pressure power steering lines to the hydro boost are blown out. i dont usually see hydro boost units go out. just the o rings that seal the lines into the hydro boost unit. have you had any work done to it where they had to remove the cab? if you have then the last guy probably didnt replace them. id still take it in and yes it is covered on warrenty. i just ran the part number on oasis. good luck! hope it gets fixerd soon. -6.0L tech
