I have a 1999 F-250 V10. In the middle of top of cab I have a console that lets me know outside temperature, mpg, gallons left in fuel tank. This is very dim and I can hardly read this? Can I change the bulb to brighter one and if so how do I dismantle this?
The overhead gets dim when you turn on the head lights. I never heard of any way to make it brighter, but I have heard of people doing something to keep the light from becoming dim with the head lights on. I will look for a thread on this.
If it's getting dark enough where you can't see it then that means you probably had a diode or two break free of the circuit board. I had this happen in my Excursion. Had to buy a pencil soldering iron to fix the board. Just have to resolder them down.
Or you could just have the bright/dark switch turned down. ha ha
This is off base of the discussion, but i reset my console in my 02 f250 Lariot. The mileage and miles to go are never ending, the mileage now shows 35 miles to the gallen and when you get fuel it shows around 900 miles to go,but the temp is allways right.Did anyone ever have this problem? It never did this till i reset it.
Hey SwitzJ- did you ever find answer to your dim overhead console problem? I have the same issue and although it is not that important it does bother me and I would love to fix it. I can't read mine at all anymore.
