The line that connects the fuel rails together is leaking

My 2003 expedtion with a 5.4L is leaking fuel that mechanic has found the leak to be in the line that goes between the two fuel rails, there stating that this can not be fixed and the fuel rails have to be replaced. Is there a fix for this problem short of spending a grand? If it must be done then thats what I will do but I cant imagine that a rubber hose could cause so many problems for me and that it could not be replaced. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dnjsdad

There was a TSB and/or recall to look at the fuel rails because some of them would rub on something back there and rupture. You may look into that and see if it applies, this came out 3-5 years ago and I can't remember all the specifics.
