Smoke is OK. Puffs that you can feel are not. Mine smokes too. As long as you're not getting pressure out of the tube, the engine is fine. Just wanted to rule that out as a possibility.
whew, thats good to hear, the truck has right at 165k on it. Do you think it could possible be the icp sensor? I have a new ebps coming, but can't find a icp yet.
If you've got a hard miss at idle, then unplugging the ICP would fix that if it were your problem. Muekster works the late shift, so you may just need to wait till in the morning to see what his schedule is like this week, or next week since this one is pretty much over. If you've been driving the truck like this for a while, something to consider is driving over to meet him if that helps his schedule any.
If he's tied up, there may be someone else in the Houston area we can contact who doesn't have a scanner, but might be able to at least give you some additional insight.
Sorry I haven't gotten back with you. I got home a little earlier than usual tonight and tried to get caught up with your thread. I am on call this weekend, but I can try to scan your truck. Don't have a specific time yet. It would depend if I would get called out. It would probably be easier to do this at my house, in case we needed something or I unexpectedly needed to leave.
OK I can check back in the morning to see if he says anything. I would not have a problem bringing it to anyone to help me(scan it, drive it, burn it sometimes)! Not really, I love the truck, been wanting one for years. I just want to make it right. I have been driving it like that since I bought it in June(about 15k). I fixed what I thought it was. Tires, no good, had tranny rebuild, no good. Well it did need a tranny, the torque converter was making all kinds of noise.

No need to wait 'til morning. I already replied on the post before yours.
Joe (rjmjr78) met up with me at my house yesterday morning. Heckuva nice fella. Sure do have alot of Joes around here!
I test drove his truck and it felt "weak" & had a "miss" like one cylinder wasn't doing its job. We hooked up the AE and ran the codes. We ran all the usual tests and found #1 cylinder to be weak. Ohms test of the VC connectors, by Joe, and the AE buzz test seem to indicate that all was good electrically. We tried to run a rotational velocity % test on all the cylinders to confirm our suspect of the # 1 injector problem, but for some unknown reason AE won't do this test on his early '99. It won't even list it on the drop dwon menu when accessing the live data meters. We are pretty confident though that the internals or nozzle of the injector are bad and we will be replacing the injector later this week. He is ordering one up tomorrow. Hopefully, we'll get'r fixed up. Afer we get'r running right, he will be ready for some more mods. He's already done a few.
Thank you Roland, you're the MAN!Just thought i'd post that we replaced #1 injector, TPS, and EPBS, and now the truck runs great! Could'nt have done it without Roland. The only problem im having now is a losing battle with this pms....TO DO LIST is alot bigger!
