this if a friend i work with she's got a 98 expedition 5.4 automatic 4wd. i've put a new silenoid, and ignition in it and still won't crank from the key... turn key to on position go under hood and bridge the silenoid and starts eveytime... i'm thinkning somthing like and ignition relay..... but the probleem is she doesn't have the owner's manuel so i have not the slightest clue where it's it it's got 2 fuse boxes under the hood both with realays in them as well as the usual under the dash fuse box with relays as well SOOOOOOOOOOO many realys and not the slightest clue which is what. HELP PLEASE
I had a 00' expy and it would not start sometimes unless you held the gear shift all the way up.. If you look at the fuse box closest to the windshield standing on the drivers side that is where I believe that relay to be located it will show a list of them on the inside of the Lid ... Let us know how it goes
oh ok sorry bout that...... Will see if we can come up with one for ya maybe ?? have you tried any of the other forums ?? maybe ask some one in there ?? hope you get it fixed soon
I,ve got a 89 f150 which had a similar problem a few years ago. The ignition switch on the lower steering column needed adjusted. I had to loosen the two screws on the top of it and move it slightly up the column. This allowed the linkage from the key switch to be able to engage the starter part of the ignition switch. This may not be the cause of you problem but its worth a check.
just so everyone know's i finaly got this expy fixed it just ended up being a shorted out wire to the silenoid. don't you just hate it when it's a simple thing?
