Hey all I am new here and I have a little question to ask you all. I have a 2007 ford 6.0L with 30,000 miles no upgrades really no problems yet. I have an opportunity to get a brand new 08 6.4L for a good price and get rid of my 07. Was just wondering if you all thought it was a good idea or not. Thanks
Both are really good trucks honestly. The later 6.0's dont seem to have as many issues as the earlier 03-04 models. The 6.4 is a nice truck that doesnt seem to have any more issues than a later model 6.0 would. You will see a slight decrease in mpg with the 08 model and it isnt as easy to do mods to. However, if you like the styling of the 08, and the interior is just awesome, plus some fancy options like tailgate step, back up camera, nav system, then the 08 is for you.

You must work for Fox News...fair and balanced. Just kidding - good analysis. It's going to boil down to personal preference and like caprang said styling and interior preference. I like both trucks and think they both have excellent attributes. If you've got a killer deal worked out on the '08 and it's what you want, go for it. On the other hand, if your '07 has been problem free, or pretty much problem free, you're still under warranty and it might behoove you to wait until closer to time that the warranty is up. Just go with your gut instinct. Both of them are Fords...how much better could it get?

I went from 2005 to 2008, both KR, loaded, dwl, F-350. No comparison to the trucks. The 2008 has so many more creature comforts and your ride is fantastic. I have the wide track, and maybe that helps. I look for a long trip, and I have not had one for some time. Good luck.
I came very close to doing what you're considering. I think the '08 is more solid motor-wise -- Even, the late 6.0s like you and I have, I think the 6.4 is less worries. Add to that all the new features, extra cooling, etc., etc... Read thru a few pages of the 6.4 forum and read thru a few pages of the 6.0 forum. If we're all being honest, the 6.4 is a smash hit out of the box.
With that said, I'm glad my deal didn't go thru. We really wanted an F350 Wide track model, but they were scarce, so we worked a deal on a nice F450. In the end the dealer couldn't make the numbers work like they had said, and we'd have ended up selling the '07 on our own. I figured even on the killer deal we had (or thought we had), we'd still lose about $10k in the trade -- you have to figure everything: tax, license, future taxes (in Kalifornia this is particularly costly) -- anyway it was a real $10K out of pocket for us. Due to the current economy and how our personal finances have been affected, well it was very good in hindsight that the deal fell apart...
Don't get me wrong, I love my '07, and I think the decision would be even easier if you had a pre-'05, as they just made a ton of improvements that year too.
