292 starter
does anyone know what starter is needed for a 292 yblock I had the guy from the auto store give me one he thought was the closest one to the stock one from 60 f100 it was for a 65 tbird. I dont want to shred the starters teeth or grind the flywheel. how far should teeth interlock when the starter ingages?? he new one pops forward and the old one rachted on the flywheel.

sturdavents, I live in wahpeton ND. There is always a older local partshouse around.
NAPA is full of lazy sobs. The odd part is they usualy have the part hiden in a catolog. They just gota get up and look. Yeah Ill agree you can have a bitch of a time finding parts.
Try finding someone that sells tractor and autoparts at the same place.

Good luck I belive the starters were the same in a car or a truck. 12V Vs 6V was the main difference.
If it dosent work Id try posting a thread in the 61-68 or whatever forum and hope number dumy catches it. Hes top notch for finding the oddball stuff.
